Shipping Container Transport on the Sunshine Coast

Our Tilt Tray Trucks
Our tilt trays are the workhorses of the fleet. They are late-model Mercedes Benz trucks fitted with Ekybol engineering tilt slide bodies, with a 7.5 metre deck and a carrying capacity of up to approximately 12 tonnes, subject to the total loaded weight, weight distribution, site access and applicable road limits. That covers most loaded 20ft containers, large machines and heavy vehicles in a single lift rather than splitting the load.
The tray tilts and slides to ground level, so the load rolls or winches on gently rather than being dragged. A remote control winch handles vehicles and containers that cannot drive on under their own power, and a Bartlett ball hitch lets us tow a trailer behind the truck at the same time. With single and double axle configurations available, we can match the setup to the weight and size of what you need moved.
One limitation worth knowing up front: our tilt trays can transport containers up to 20ft in length and cannot transport a 40ft container. Any 40ft move is a side loader job.

Container Transport Across the Sunshine Coast and Beyond

Heavy vehicle access and load limits on the day follow the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator rules, so a clear, level site with room for the truck to get in and set down keeps your transport simple.
Our Shipping Container Side Loader
For containers specifically, we also run a shipping container side loader, and it is what sets our container transport apart from a tilt-tray-only operator. A side loader lifts and sets down 20ft and 40ft containers from the driver’s side of the truck with no tilting at all, which makes placement precise and gentle on the container and whatever is packed inside it. With a trailer attached, the setup can move up to two 20ft containers at a time, so a two-container job does not always mean two trips.
The side loader is precise, but it is not a small-space solution: it unloads from the driver’s side only and needs genuine room to set up safely. As a general guide, it requires:
- approximately 20 metres of clear length
- approximately 7 metres of total operating width, including the container
- a driveway width of at least approximately 3 metres
- firm, dry and reasonably level ground
- sufficient clear space for the stabiliser legs to operate safely
If your site does not meet those requirements, a tilt tray may be the more suitable option, keeping in mind the 20ft limit above. The best thing to do is tell us the driveway width, the clear length available and the ground surface when you enquire, and we will tell you which truck suits the job.
